Mitchell P. Tarkoff, M.D., graduated from medical school at the University of Illinois and completed his internship and residency at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Il.. In addition, Dr. Tarkoff completed a Pulmonary Fellowship at the University of Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. Previous to joining Muir/Diablo Primary Care, Dr. Tarkoff was in private practice at Rossmoor Medical Center since 1993.

Rashmi Shukla, D.O., a residency-trained internal medicine physician has joined John Muir at Rossmoor as a part-time physician. Dr. Shukla completed her internal medicine residency training at the Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, CA. Dr. Shukla joined Muir/Diablo Primary Care in 2004 and currently practices full time at Muir Diablo Primary Care's Orinda location. Dr. Shukla will have office hours at John Muir at Rossmoor one day per week during the fall.

Mary Sears, M.D., a residency-trained internal medicine physician has joined John Muir at Rossmoor as a part-time physician. Dr. Sears completed her residency at Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo. Dr. Sears joined Muir/Diablo Primary Care in 2004 and practices full time at Muir/Diablo Primary Care's Orinda location. Dr. Sears will have office hours at John Muir at Rossmoor one day per week during the fall.

Nurse practitioner Meredyth Young has also joined the John Muir at Rossmoor primary care team on a full-time basis. Meredyth received her geriatric nurse practitioner certification in 1999 and has been providing comprehensive primary health care to adult and geriatric clients for the last six years in Contra Costa County. Meredyth joined Muir/Diablo Primary Care in 2004, working with Roy Kaplan, M.D., and specializing in the treatment of diabetes.
